Yesterday was Father’s Day in many countries. If you could dedicate a holiday to a more distant relative, who would it be — and why?
tree branches sometimes split
growing in different directions
stretching toward the same Sun
never touching one another
such can be the case of families
distant tinkling of crochet needles
creating coats causing racial slurs
after mass aftermath
matching hot pink looped hat with coat
smirks from pseudo parishioners
pointing with chins
look at that polack
my oblivious returned smiles evoked evil laughter
learning at eight the definition of evil irony
catholics can hold more spite on their tongues than eucharists
confessions or prayers of penance
back then didn’t know the difference
just remember driving over bridges into the city
small row home filled with aroma of golabkis
serenaded by great aunt sophie’s tinkling needles
finishing up the Christmas present
in between powdering kruschickis
so i could wear something pretty
on Easter
tree branches sometimes split
but once they are reunited
the buds will bloom
and the bough
never
breaks
