sunkissed

poem

for AJ

disconcerting

like a whiff of honeysuckle in an arctic wind

reminds Hope she holds warmer days ahead

eyes sighed shut

palms outstretched

fingertips caressed newborn sunbeams

the dream was warm

real

a heart used to being beaten

now resuscitated to feel again

bated breath trapped flutters of anticipation

echoes in once hollowed chests

guess it sounded louder in mine

i promise you it was never my intention to trap your shine

i just wanted to glow with you

flames united

burning

never meant for the scent of Hope

to be so disconcerting.
