poem

that year Spring ran late

snowflakes on eyelashes laughed

passionate kisses melted marshmallows in quickly sipped cocoa

gloved hand tapped tipof nose

short white puffs

punctuated the air

wind wisped them away

played hide and go seek behind the ferris wheel

lake vapor winked to beckon

a more seasonal return

let’s come back when the Sun kisses sparkling sand

feed each other jalapeño topped hot dogs

sipping green rivers

proposal poisoned

one cold night

a cold heart

shot cold steel

into a warm soul

he died with snowflakes in his eyelashes

as a sinister laugh

mocked the wind
