why forests are dark

Image

there are patches of horizon between tree branches

properly named the negative spaces

broken bits of blue

grey

light

have you ever seen a shattered rainbow

jagged limbs reaching for hope

within Father’s brushstrokes

capturing Mother’s smile

it is natural that doubt seeds planted by pain

nourished by the tears of sadness

abuse and fear

would grow strong

with branches cracking the sky

yet puzzle pieces fit together

once the obstacles of the mind are removed
